100

Unbelievably, this really is the 100th posting to the truckshunters blog since it flung its unhinged doors open in October last year. When I cranked it up 100 postings ago and launched it wheezily onto an unsuspecting internet, I wasn’t sure where it would go (if anywhere at all) and what your reaction to it would be. Needless to say, I’m both flattered and delighted by the way you have rceived my wayward meanderings. One way or another, I think the ground we’ve covered here is mind-boggling and a very great deal of the credit must go to you, the faithful truckshunter blogsters!

I think, though, that now would be a good time for me to take a break. Although blogposting is not exactly an onerous responsibility, I have decided to award myself some time off for a while in order to concentrate more on developing The Nightshift itself. So although there will be no truckshunter blog for the moment at least, listen out for changes to the programme which, I hope, will make it even livelier and more fun than it already is!

Thanks once again for your enthusiasm and participation in this great blogging experiment. Please be assured that it has not been wasted. Far from it.

IAN

Hello Chums,
Congratulations Hildie...200th blog on this page. The Moon Walk tonight...of course I'll be thinking of you, it's blowing a gale here in Gateshead, you may have to wrap up warm and hang onto your hat.
Grrrrrrr that Alex was, and still is, a pain in the backside. No wonder the country is in a downward spiral. If she had spoken to me like that she would have ended up in the pool.
I think Luke will turn out to be the eventual winner. I like his style and manner, and his humour is second to none.
Question.....
If Ian was able to put us into a Big Ian Truckshunters Home, just how long would we last......8, 9, 10 secs, yep about that much.
Nit nurses in school, I wish. Today its midwives and drug counsellors.
I remember having medicals at school, the dentist made a visit, and of course Nitty Nora.
Paddy's Market on the quayside, it was a Saturday market and sold second hand clothes. My mother bought me an Anorak/windcheater type coat.It had in the lapel a badge of the Ramblers Association.
When I had it on for school a teacher spotted it and asked if I was a member. (Stifles riotous laughter). 'No Miss' I said 'it came with the coat'.
I mean this was Byker in about 1952, the only rambling I did was when I was looking for something to eat.

Hi Folks,

You're not alone in Ian's BB House, Sid! I've brought my great niece to visit you. It was Faith's Christening today and she was a little angel, as always. Isn't she lovely? I've had problems downloading my photos. Pictures I'd deleted reappeared in my downloads, then there wasn't enough space for all my new photos! I kept deleting and downloading until I got them all. Sadly many are blurred. I was trying not to use the flash, as Faith always ends up with red eyes, but the camera must have compensated by lengthening the timing of the process, and all slight movements were picked up. My nephew managed to capture a few goods shots of Faith and me, despite me setting the camera for him.

Hildie, good luck for tonight. The wind seems to have died down, so you just need the rain to stay away.

It took me a few minutes to work out why there had been 202 comments but apparently only one new entry from you Sid. Then I saw the 'Newer,Newest' options, and found your last two comments. I hope everyone else finds us, or we will be well hidden in Ian's BB House!

Maureen, where have you been gallivanting this week? Hopefully, to some lovely places.

Glad you turned up Vivienne, thought I was going to be here on my own for ages.
It took me a few moments to discover where my comments had gone when I clicked on the 'publish your comment' box.
Lovely pics of Faith, congratulations all round are called for.
Here's to the next 100...comments I mean, not babies.

Hello Hildie, I'm sure you will pay us a visit after your Moon Walk, so its a well done from me.
Bye for now, Sid.

Hello .... we seem to be in a funny place here, where exactly are we? Remember when we were going to meet up at the Highland Cow when we were running out of space on the 70th Blog? Anyway, Folks, I did it! I got my certificate for doing the Moon Walk. The going was good on the way there because the wind was behind us, but we had to battle the gales on the way back. I lost my gorgeous husband, Chris, to cancer of the oesophagus when he was only forty seven. I won't say any more, except that it was very nice to know that you were all thinking of me tonight when I tried to do my little bit. You know you mentioned medicals at school, Sid? I have a very vivid memory of a medical in the Infant School when I was six. My baby sister had just been born and my mam wasn't able to come to the medical - so she asked this friend of hers , called Mrs. Fazakerley, to come to the school and go in with me while I had the medical. it sticks with me to this day, I just wanted my mam to be there and wasn't happy at all about the appearance of Mrs. Fazakerley, kind of her as it was to be there for me! Vivienne, I bet you had a lovely day today. What was that about babies, Sid, you little tinker!
Mary's father had five daughters ... four of their names were
Nana
Nene
Nini
Nono
.... what was the name of the fifth one?
Night, night from me - I'm off out of the diary room now, I should sleep well tonight.

Hi Hildie,

Well done, you made it despite the bad weather! I heard rain lashing outside my window about 10.30pm and guessed you must have been caught in it. I'm very sorry to hear about you losing Chris to cancer. It's a very cruel illness.

Ian has been featuring several of your news clips tonight. He's just mentioned the boat incident.

Thanks Ian for playing a couple of Peter and Gordon songs for me tonight, after my admission that I used to be in their fan club. I was transported back to my youth with, 'Nobody I Know' & 'True Love Ways.' Perhaps they could join us in the BB House?

Morning everyone, Hildie the answer has to be Mary, but you'll never know how pleased I was with myself as I first answered NUNU.

We are going to our caravan for a few days, so watch out for me in the car park at Morrisons in Hawick.

You all be careful whilst I'm away, I came back after a little jaunt a while ago and found the Truckshunters Blog short of our leader.

Hi Sid,

I hope you have a super time in Scotland. The weather promises to be quite good for a few days, or I'm assuming it will be as it's forecast to be sunny this week for the tennis at Wimbledon.

Well I found myself being interviewed on Radio Newcastle this afternoon. I'd emailled Sue last night and sent her my Christening photo, and mentioned my disappointment that the Angel party had been cancelled due to the high winds.

Sarah phoned me requesting an interview. I didn't want to give a live interview, in case I got tongue tied. So she pre-recorded my comments, during which I stated that I'd left the Christening festivities early so I could attend the Angel event. I wanted to see the films which had been recorded a few weeks ago, and in which I'd taken part.

I couldn't park near the Angel as the layby had been coned off. So I'd followed the road signs to the parking areas. After a trek I arrived back at the Angel to be told I wasn't allowed to enter the field as the event had been cancelled. Lots of other people were heading towards the Angel too, and the Park & Ride still appeared to be operating. I felt the organisers should have covered over the road signs with cancellation notices. We wouldn't have wasted our time, battling against the growing wind if we could have seen the event had been cancelled.

After my recording had been played, one of the event organisers was interviewed, saying how effectively they had managed to clear the site, after a decision to cancel had been made. She made no reference or apology to the steady flow of people who arrived mid/ late afternoon, still expecting the event to be held. After all it was supposed to be on until 6.30pm. Kathy Secker was spreading the word on Radio Newcastle, but I'd already made my wasted journey by the time I heard her announcement. I felt sorry for the families with young children, who were battling against the winds
on the high bridge over the road.

Hi All,
just spent ages adding a comment and lost it! I know just how you felt Hildie, too tired now, will try again tomorrow...nite nite.

Hildie said...

Maureen, the same thing happened to me here last night!! Maybe we need to move onto another page.

Hildie said...

Sid ,,,, are you there in the car park yet?! I hope you are all having a lovely time at the caravan.

Hi everyone,

Ian, you've turned into 'Five Live' again! I turned the radio on at about 1.15am and there you weren't!

Sid, I spoke too soon about good weather. It's been raining tonight. I hope Hawick's clear of rain. Well spotted re Mary. I guessed it wouldn't be the obvious, Nunu, but failed to pick up on Mary.

Maureen and Hildie, it's been taking me three attempts to post my comments since we hit 200.

Maureen said...

Hi, Everyone,
Ian to the rescue! I spent an hour trying to find Ian on the dial. (Didn't like to put the light on, and had to keep listening to the end of the 'record') gave up, tuned into to something else, I'm afraid. Couldn't put up with it any longer, tuned back at 5 and VOILA! there was Ian! Thanks so much Ian above and beyond the call of duty, (and so much better live)
Hildie, Ian's asking for the website of the page you sent in with strange news items.

Hildie said...

Morning everyone! That was good this morning - hearing 'Ian Live'. Lucky too that we all were listening. I had put radio on at about quarter to one and heard Paddy explaining the situation. He said Ian hadn't been able to record the show yesterday ..... technical problems ..... and he said Ian would be Live at Five. Consequently, I put my alarm on as I didn't want to miss him as there's truly nothing better than a live Ian .... only thing I missed was a chance to text in, pity the machine was off. He must have had to get up incredibly early. I am not trusting this 'Newer' bit of the blog that we have gone onto.

Hello everyone,I'm in a car park in Galashiels. Hope the blog behaves itself, I hate wasting my time. Will be home soon, bye for now, Sid.

Hiya,
Good idea Hildie, how about 'shoving over' to the next blog, dedicated to Allison Best? (only three comments so none of that lengthy scrolling)I cross my fingers each time I click on post! Remember to leave a note out for Lawrence and Sid.
Fingers crossed, here we go ....

Vivienne said...

Hi everyone,

Maureen, I've found your comments on Ian's previous posting, so I'm transferring below now. So friends please join us there too ......

Lawrence said...

Hi all..... I just found the missing 18 posts as well. Call me dopey - I never saw the Newest label until now.

D'oh!

Anyway a few folk have been expressing a worry about us stil using this blog and wondering if it is what Ian would want etc...

I popped in to see Ian this morning to mull over a few ides and asked him about the blog.

He's delighted for us to continue to use this as we always have.... don't stop blogging - keep at it.

It may be at some time in the near-ish future Blog Posting 101 could make an appearance so - Keep The Faith.

Cheers all..

Lawrence

Psst! Hi Lawrence, we're on t'other side! Transferred to 'Alison Best' when it started to get a bit sticky with posting comments on here. Good news about the blog tho' I know some of us have been feeling very apprehensive about using it, and we'd LOVE Ian to join in again, after all. it's his blog!
See you next door....Maureen
