Sorry, messed up first comment, and I haven't been at the sherry!
Lovely picture Ian, I hope that everyone has enjoyed a good day.

Happy Christmas everyone.... and yes that really is a gorgeous picture.

I guess I must have had a good day - I feel thoroughly stuffed.

Cheers.... all the best everyone.

Hi Truckshunters Everywhere!

I love your picture too Ian. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Day and you are all enjoying the festive activities.

Hi, I'm on my daughter's laptop for a borrowed moment .... just want to say hope you are all okay, especially Ian.
I have a broken computer, my daughter's boyfriend said "That's the blue screen of death" when he looked at it today.
The laptop goes back to Manchester with them on Sunday ..... so I shall be disappearing again. Hope you know I'm thinking of you all.
I am trying to get my head around Ian's news, it is very difficult to take in.
I'd like very much to thank Lawrence, Maureen and Sid for keeping me up to date with what has been happening.

Afternoon everyone. Are you all at the sales?! While my daughter's laptop is still her I thought I'd drop by to wish all you Truckshunters all the very best for 2009 - and to say I hope you will all still be hanging round on here when the new year comes. I hope our frazzled, wayward and poverty stricken friend is doing okay.

Maureen said...

Sorry I missed you Hildie and I'm sorry to hear of the demise of your pc, I hope you have access to Kellys' laptop for a while.
I bet Ian's news was a shock, Inga, but I hope that you enjoyed your break.

Inga said...

I don't know if what I suffered was shock due to a lack of total surprise but this certainly has not alleviated the pain and sadness I feel. The Nightshift was a unique program, a virtual art in communication skills and therefore suffered the same fate that of lot of art works do.

Vivienne said...

Good morning folks,

What makes the loss so painful, is the timing of losing Ian from our airwaves, plus the Nightshift as a show. Pulling the plug just before Christmas was a horrible trick to play on loyal listeners. I'm only glad that Ian managed to warn us on this blog before it happened. However, none of us expected the show would be axed that night, and listeners who don't have access to Ian's blog will be wondering what's happened to the Nightshift.

I don't know why the BBC failed to play the shows Ian had prerecorded. I was looking forward to hearing the highlights from 'On your doorstep.'

I've learned of the loss of two wonderful people this Christmas. A card was returned to me marked 'deceased,' and a friend told me about the other lady, who died over Christmas. This feels like a third death, a sudden death, when we haven't the chance to say our, 'Goodbyes.'

Ian, I know it's your choice to leave at the end of January. We could have accepted your decision, and had a farewell party, but we thought we had another few nights to make some recordings, and get used to the idea. Your very brief live bits at 6am throughout January will afford you very little time to do what you do best, entertain us, and only leave us wanting more! Perhaps the Beeb will axe your half hours too! That really would be the final straw!!!

Hello everybody,
I was just sat here wondering what everybody will be doing tomorow night as one year ends and another begins.
Jean and I will hopefully bring the new year in quietly, we were never 'big party people'.
Family will come for dinner and tea on new years day and then the decorations will be taken down the day after.
A wish for 2009 will come tomorrow.

Vivienne said...

Hi everyone,

I haven't any plans for New Year, Sid. I used to stay overnight with my parents on New Year's Eve, and my mother cooked lunch for all the family on New Year's Day, but sadly those days are no more. I'll be watching the box, or a DVD, and see in the New Year to the sound of Big Ben and the display of fireworks over the Thames. I hope my new neighbours don't party all night!

Maureen said...

Hi Everyone,
I hate to sound an old grouch but I'm quietly making the resolution not to be in retail by next Christmas! I'm afraid I'll be working until 6 tomorrow and in to work again on New Years day for 9.30. So I'm afraid that I'll hoping for an early night and like you, Vivienne, quiet neighbours! I sincerely wish you all a much better New Year than we've had this year. I'm even thinking of starting to put the lottery on. I'm due a change of luck! The main thing is that we have our health, and that is a very precious thing.

Maureen said...

Can I add a reason to be cheerful? Hildie's gonna kill me but I just thought I'd mention that a certain lady is celebrating a certain birthday on the same day as Elvis, which I believe is January 8th. I think that it's her sixtieth. Would anyone else know for sure?

Maureen said...

Another little item to keep you occupied, does any one know how many gifts were received if you add together all of the gifts mentioned in the 12 days of Christmas? Answer tomorrow ...

Sid said...

Can confirm Elvis has his birthday on that date Maureen, must do Hildie a card.

Inga said...

Wendell and I want to wish all of you a Happy, Healthy, Wealthy 2009. May all of your dreams come true in the new year and don't forget to make new dreams for the future!
Cheers and Prosit :-)

Maureen said...

Happy New Year everyone, enjoying a quiet one, hoping that there aren't toooo many fireworks!

Vivienne said...

Hello Truckshunters everywhere!

Thinking of all of you and wishing you a wonderful 2009. Wishing you excellent health, good fortune and much happiness.

Lots of love and Happy New Year!

Where's the boss - Where's the boss?

Maureen said...

No sign of the Gaffer again this morning. Simon making sarcastic comments about people taking extra days off. What's going on?

Maureen said...

PS Sorry, if anyone's been struggling with the Christmas gifts puzzle, the answer is 364 apparently, although I counted the partridge and the pear tree separately and got 365!

Vivienne said...

Hi Folks,

I sent in a Happy New Year message to Michael Poulter, the listeners and in particular Ian and all his Truckshunters, when Michael was doing a live request show yesterday morning. Michael read out my message then said that Ian will be back on Monday at 6am. So we won't have long to wait now! It seems like an eternity since Ian was on air, doesn't it?

Simon Hogan was really irritating this morning. I was awake most of the night, just one of those nights, but didn't want to listen to continuous music. I was pleased when Simon eventually turned up at about 6.37am. However, he complained about his hangover each time he spoke, and kept talking about all the people who would be taking 'sickies' today. I got the impression that he wanted to take a sickie too, but instead he dragged himself in to work most begrudgingly. We had to suffer with him! I don't think he was getting at anyone at Radio Newcastle. He just didn't want to be at work. I switched off as I didn't like his attitude.

Sorry Maureen, I couldn't be bothered to count up all the gifts as I knew it would take me ages. I'm sure there must be a formula for working out the answer, but I don't know what it is.

I'm sort of watching Celebrity Big Brother at present. I bet Hildie's watching too.

Maureen said...

Thanks Vivienne, good to hear when the boss is due back. I know that I listened from 5.30, hoping that Ian would be on at 6. I'm afraid that I lost patience with it too. Can you imagine what it'll be like when Ian isn't on at all? I've decided to put 'Sids' recordings onto a cd for emergency use in my cd playing alarm clock. (Is that possible Sid?) or maybe we can all ring Ian at home just to hear his voice, I'm sure he wouldn't mind ...

Sid said...

Hello everyone, well its nice to be back to normal, and to see how much money we have left.
Maureen, it is possible to transfer dvd to cd....but I can't do it, I haven't the necessary software installed on my pc.The programs are available via the internet, but they may bring more bother than you would like.
My cable hard-drive device only transfers data onto DVD-R or video tape. Sadly I am limited to those two formats.
I never had you down as a Celeb BB fan Vivienne, Jean loves that type of show....I bury my head in a good book, and try to nod approvingly at the right moment.
I feel a bit on edge waiting for Monday morning show, anybody else feeling the same way?.

Vivienne said...

Good Evening Everyone,

I'm worried I sleep through Ian's live show on Monday, Sid. I'd hate to miss it after such a long wait.

I'm always interested to see which celeb's are going into the BB House. Then I make up my mind whether I want to watch it. I liked some of the celebs last time, but I'm not impressed with this bunch. I'll probably dip in and out on eviction nights. It's obvious that little guy, can't remember his name, will win, unless something drastic happens. I can't see him escaping over the wall though!

Maureen said...

Thanks for the tech info Sid. I was thinking that I could just put it into windows media library then record it onto a cd. Seems like it's not that easy. Never mind, I'm sure that Ian will find some way of keeping in touch. Maybe another station, or a local paper. I can see him as our local history correspondent, can't you? What about all of those little clippings he reads out of the Guardian? I'd love to read his versions, and maybe he's started on the book already!
Hildie says that she's missing us all and sends her best wishes, let's hope that we get her back soon.
Have you all got your alarms set for 6am? I'm sure there'll be loads of people who've been wondering what's been going on, and who'll be as upset at the news as we are, when they hear it.

Sid said...

Poor Ian, breaking a tooth, forming an abscess, face all swollen, 3 nights in hospital, intravenous antibiotic.....dear me.
Now we know where he was. Welcome back Ian.

Vivienne said...

Hi Hildie,

Congratulations on your 60th birthday. Wishing you a lovely day,

Lots of love,

Sid said...

Hello everyone,
Have a great day Hildie, it wasn't me who requested Van Morrison for you, but it was a great idea, whoever it was.
I had been contemplating turning the lights off in here, but maybe someone else would care to do it...later.

Inga said...

Hello Sid, I understand why you might want to save electricity in these economically challenged times so let's light a candle, one never knows who might come creeping in one of these days!

Sid said...

Hello everyone.
So nice to hear from you Inga. I had been passing by every now and again and saw the light burning in here, but there was never anybody in. Well not until today. I hope everyone is keeping warm.

Inga said...

Check out my new photo!
CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS?

I keep the heat down to economize and I wrap up to stay warm. But since I cannot wrap up my nose and hands, I am still a little uncomfortable. However I am not going to complain. Mustn't grumble, as you guys say. After all, the weather is Europe is much worse than here right now. Just how cold is it in Newcastle?

Sid said...

Tonight Inga it's going to be -1C.
Next weeks weather is supposed to be getting colder again.

Vivienne said...

Hi Inga,

At first glance it looked like a chocolate mould/ shape, but on closer examination it's the end of a safety pin, I guess?

I hope you are keeping well. Are you managing to hear any of Ian's live shows?

I keep checking in Sid, but don't leave a message if no-one's in.

Ian, have you given up on us again?

Hello! That announcement from Ian this morning, about his redundancy, must have been extremely tough for him to make, I really felt for him. To hear it on air was a stark reminder to me that he really is disappearing from the air waves, I couldn't help but realise what an empty space he will be leaving behind him. I wish him lots of love and luck, and I don't think we should worry about him not being on the blog at the moment. I just think he has a lot of loose ends to tie up and that he will be back with us soon.
It's almost a week now since my birthday .... I'd like to thank Ian for the honourable mention he gave me and I'd like to thank Maureen, Sid and Vivienne for the wonderful birthday cards they sent me, and also I'd like to thank Lawrence for his good wishes. Vivienne - thank you also for the tapes you sent me!! It was so good to hear again the first "People's Nightshift" .....
and I loved the "It was on a Starry Night" tape. You all made quite a fuss of me and I appreciated your thoughts and wishes.
If you have received an email from me about Stumble - I haven't got the faintest idea what it is all about! It came to me from Ian, and I have accidentally clicked a button that has sent it to everyone on my contact list ... so my apologies ... mostly for not knowing what it's all about!!
love to you all from Hildie. x
p.s. Has anyone heard from Inga lately?

Sid said...

Hello everyone,
Thanks for the info re-'StumbleUpon' Hildie, I was about to let you know that I never bother with things like that. I have just checked my e-mail address book and would have been horrified if I had accidently asked them to join me on that website.
It's nice to have you back Hildie.

Maureen said...

Me too Hildie, I got the invite from Ian, then from you so I guessed the connection. I am a bit suspicious of any of those social network sites. Ian possibly didn't even realise that they'd gone through his mail box either!

Vivienne said...

Good evening folks!

Hildie, it's good to have you back blogging again. I'm pleased you enjoyed your birthday, and that my card and tapes arrived ok. I'm afraid I can't download radio shows to my laptop (or don't know how to), so stayed up to record some of the first People's Nightshit on an audio tape.

I was pleased Ian made known his redundancy on air today. It may have been difficult for him to mention, but at least it's out in the open now, and we know his leaving date is two weeks today. Perhaps we can now arrange that get-together with Ian? Is everyone up for it? The Keelman (Big Lamp) at Newburn has been suggested as a venue.

Lawrence is going to be live on air with Ian tomorrow, so that should be good fun! If they get the giggles they won't be able to record over it! Inga, you'll have to stay up late tonight to hear them I'm afraid.

Vivienne said...

Hi folks!

Loz, I'm sorry I slept through my alarm this morning, and missed you and Ian! Why is it I miss all the shows I particularly wish to hear?
I hope Sid's managed to record it.

It's felt very cold, wet and miserable today. I went out for a short drive and met thick mist on the hills. Still some idiots driving without lights!

Maureen said...

Hi All,
Vivienne, I'm confused! Ian read out three texts from you that he said that he'd received live during the programme. I remember that he's read a few things out lately from Vivienne in Byker, I presumed that it was you, I'm wondering now if there is another Vivienne?
Ryan text in to say that he was sorry to hear about Ian and to invite him down to Alton sometime. It's such a pity, if he'd kept in touch with the blog he would have known before now. I always hoped that he was reading it even if he wasn't joining in.

Lawrence said...

Hi all,

Hi Vivienne and Maureen,

The texts Ian received this morning were from Viv, as opposed to Vivienne, from Byker but I too assumed they were from Oor Vivienne.

Either way as Ian mentioned live it's traditional for folk leaving a job to have a farewell drink with the ones he works with, and on the Nighshift that's us lot awww
... bless him, so as soon as we can get a mutually agreeable time we'll get this event into action.

I should be back on air next Tuesday and Thursday and then the following Tuesday, the morning before the finale.

I will be doing a mini, rapid fire, slimline On Your Doorstep probably this Tuesday, as well as a brief look back at my favourites of the previous 19 we did as well as a look to some subjects that have escaped the net and now will never be done.

One thing is for certain the final set of mini live nightshifts will be well worth catching.

As for the foxy miss Charlie Charlton.... bless her she made my morning with her compeltely unexpected comments after the news. I'm an even bigger fan of her now and she should have more TV work hoyed at her.

Some people come over as lovely on air and not so off, but she's every much the same sweety off air too.

Right... that's us even as she genuienly made me blush this morning and now hopefully that's been reciprocated.... :-)

One canny lass.

Cheers all

Lets have a fortnight-long party!

Lawrence

Hello Everybody, I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth nor have I frozen to death even though it is extremely cold over here as you've probably heard.
I am extremely busy. I had to replenish my ebay store inventory, very time consuming; catching up with things I couldn't do during the Xmas rush; started the annual inventory etc etc.
Just in case you haven't seen this quote, here it is:
“Rosa Parks sat down so that Martin Luther King Jr. could walk. Martin walked so that Obama could run. Obama ran so that our children could fly.”
Have a great weekend

Lawrence said...

Hi all,

Hi Inga,

great to hear from you again... make sure you keep Ian's inbox busy.

Any one heard anyting from Gilly?

Cheers

Lawrence

Inga said...

Hello Lawrence, just sent him a message today.
Will anybody at RN take up your On Your Doorstep?
Inga

Lawrence said...

Hi Inga,

Glad you've contected him.

As for "Doorstep" well in all honesty I think the way RN is these days, umm... no sadly no other show will pick it up, which is a great pity as I think there's a whole lot more interest in local history than radio bosses like to admit - or simply realise.

So for now no, the last one will be our quick one on Tuesday, but who knows if people were to write asking for more local history again on air..... who knows?

I'd love to do more, but have to say the feature was made by Ian's banter and above all.... very knowledgable interjections which filled in a lot of the background history I wasn't aware of but gave the feature a 3-D feel... it worked so well as a two hander with us two as we ended up like a couple of psychics knowing where comments were coming and when to listen... and laugh.... a lot.... ohhh an awful lot.

But who knows what the future will bring.

Cheers

Lawrence

Inga said...

No, Ian will not be able to complain about a lack of messages from me!
As to RN, in my experience anything of worth is either ignored or discontinued. That goes for any art form and in my business it is also the mouldings that I particularly like.
I tried listening to other programmes on RN but there seemed to be a lot of loud laughing instead of clever and witty humour. I have tried a whole lot of programmes on other stations but none come anywhere close to presenting anything like what Ian and you did.

Lawrence said...

Oh bless you Inga, comments like that mean the world to me.

This was my first big expedition in broadcasting and with Ian as my inspiration it naturally was done with intelligent witty basis.... so very glad you enjoyed it.... it was immense fun to do... a great 7 months and 20 (as it will be) Doorsteps.... a small part of the whole Nightshift movement which was fantastic in every way.... It gave me reason to listen to night time radio again. Ian created a masterpiece of a show and I was so very proud to place my little contributions in the running order whenever wanted.

You know what I don't think we'll ever hear the like again on radio again which is a massive pity.

Cheers

Lawrence

Inga said...

Cheers to you too - it was ever so obvious that both of you enjoyed this feature!
Have you found anything worth listening to on any of the other BBC radio stations?

Hildie said...

Hi everyone,
Inga .... like you,I'm all at sea
about what I'll be able to listen to. I don't really think there is anything out there for me. I've been a R. N. listener since The Blue Bus programme first started, but I listened only to that programme and then to Ian's Nightshift, so it has been exclusive and specific listening. I don't know where to go from here as there is no one who comes near to Ian. Been setting my alarm for 6a.m. the last couple of weeks, is that what the rest of you are doing?!
However, let's face it, our problem is nowhere near as big as the one he, himself, has at the moment. Bless him.
Hope you guys are all well ... Maureen, Sid, Vivienne, Lawrence
and yourself Inga. We WILL all still be meeting up on here though, won't we?
p.s. I bought a laptop today with my birthday money, I haven't got one clue what to do with it!! Well, I've taken it out of the box, that's as much as I know what to do with it! I'll let you know when there's any progress!

Inga said...

Ian, forgive me but necessity [as in "need"] is indeed the mother of invention so if there are any Elvis fans among you guys tune into the following before Sunday 18/1/09 18:00 your time:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p001wwhh/Dr_Rock_11_01_2009/
or, of that doesn't work go to the BBC York Radio station on the iPlayer and find Dr. Rock's 11/1/09programme. One hour of nothing but Elvis. You just thought you knew every track he ever recorded. Right now I am waiting for "Way Down" which I heard for the very first time the other day. I wonder how many hours it would take to play every track Elvis ever recorded! I will ask Dr. Rock. If he doesn't know. nobody would.
How about this "Miracle on the Hudson"? How much luck can 155 people have all at the same time? Well, New York cerainly deserves this kind of attention !!!!

Sid said...

Afternoon folks,
Is it okay if I ask Ian to give us a new page to blog on ?.
Those trees, the Xmas greetings, they are now of the past. Its onwards and upwards for all of us. Go on Ian...give us a clean sheet to start on. Pleeeeeese.ingread

Sid said...

Yes, thats another 'word verification' on the end. Sorry.

Vivienne said...

Hi Folks!

I hope you're successful Sid in getting Ian to post a new page. At present it feels like we're trapped in a time-warp, and in a rather unhappy place. I've been trying to cheer up everyone on M&D with jokes. I hope Ian will continue to post on Truckshunters, but I have kept M&D going in case of emergencies.

I had to post a comment today when I saw my word verification was 'viversim.' Perhaps I should change my name to Viversim. Then there wouldn't be any confusion! Incidently, I've been told there is another Vivienne with my surname who also lives in Winlaton. She and I must use the same dentist, as one day they got our records mixed up!

Loz, have you thought of talking to Sue Sweeney about a slot in her Sunday morning show. She always has a guest to review the morning newspapers, and Sue usually finds some interesting people. Sue may be willing to incorporate a short local history feature with the newspaper review. However, you may need to tone down your gruesome tales, as there may be young children listening! Sue is full of fun and I'm certain you would enjoy working with her, i.e. if she agrees to the local history feature. I doubt Sue would want a weekly local history slot, but she may go for monthly or six weekly.

Good luck!

Viversim!

p.s. Inga, that truly was a miracle, and the pilot and co-pilot deserve awards of the highest order. Maybe this is a sign of change to good fortune for the USA, and hopefully the rest of the World. Good fortune radiating from your new President! We'll all be watching the TV or online on Tuesday. Barack Obama is an inspiration to us all.

Maureen said...

Hi All,
Hope that you are keeping warm, it's a bit chilly out there isn't it?
Sid I'm afraid that it sounds like the end of Truckshunters but I'm sure that Ian has a new beginning planned, he has said that he'll give us fresh contact details during the last week of broadcasting.
Maybe it's time for a fresh start for all of us, as you say onwards and upwards. I only hope that we can all stay in touch, I still think that we've created something special here. If Ian intends replying to all of the emails he's received I think that he'll have to start a column in the Evening Chronicle or he'll be writing until his 70th birthday!
Inga, and others who may be looking for alternative listening PI (Post Ian) Smooth radio offer a decent programme during the night with oldies, trivia, quizzes and live phone ins. Not up to Ian's standard of course, but not bad. (Smooth Radio North East Inga)
That was an absolute miracle, landing that plane, but don't you think the pilot looked like the ideal man for the job? You couldn't fail to be confident if you saw him stepping up to take control. There are a lot of grateful families out there due to his courage and expertise. I hope that they give him a medal!

Lawrence said...

Hi all.. If I recall Ian did mention reviving the Truckshunters blog on my live stint last week... so keep the faith... I'm sure a new page will emerge.

Well my mini-dorrstep is written for Tuesday morning plus a list of the Doorsteps then maybe have been in the future... and we'll be remembering our favourites from the past.

Sue taking on Doorstep..... hmm... I still can see any other show doing so but you never fully know.

See you live Tuesday...and Thursday.....all the best.

Lawrence

Hildie said...

Morning Lawrence, see you Tuesday and Thursday, if you two get the giggles we'll not fit it in! My alarm is currently set for 6a.m. each morning .... never been up at that time in all my life until recently ....
and I wouldn't do it for just anybody!
I tuned in at 5 past 6 this morning to hear part of the story about Ian's car - but what was actually the matter with it? I heard that the AA had had to break into it and bring him home from his mam's in a truck ..... bless!

Sid said...

Hello everyone,
I heard that about Ians car Hildie, those keys aren't cheap.
Loz...I don't suppose you would fancy havig a chat to Ian and see if it would be possible to put 'On Your Doorsteps' on here. Just imagine folks, having that to look forward to. What do you think Loz ?

Maureen said...

What a good idea Sid, then we wouldn't miss 'the doorsteps' and if Ian mentioned it I'm sure that a lot of people would join us on here to read them.
I can't believe that we really will be losing Ian, I'll not believe it until it really happens. I hope that you are going to turn up on another local station Ian. I've got everything crossed, I'll give you a good reference if it's any help!

Lawrence said...

Giggles.... live.... lol... don't go there. Mike Parr will never start at 6.30.

I'll mention posting doorsteps up on here... see what he says. I don't mind the research at all.

As for cars and central locking... weird.... mine has a tendency to play up when locking it since Friday...or you'll wall from can and the boot pops up all by itself.

Cars - who'd have one?

Lawrence... time for bed I'm on the road in 3 1/2 hours :-)

Sid said...

Hello everyone,
Loz, the regular contributors on here are aware that I am downloading Ians 30 minute shows onto a hard-drive, and then transfering them to a DVD. Would you like a copy when it is done. It would give you a lasting momento of the great tales you have brought us and your involvement with radio Ncle. Ian has an e-mail waiting for him asking if he wants one. No charge involved, its a thankyou from me.

If the car boot is still giving you grief...try opening all the doors and the boot, and leave them open for a few seconds. I was reliably informed many years ago it resets the locking memory. I hope it works for you.

Inga I hope your weather is starting to settle down to a normal January pattern.

Sid said...

Loz I didn't mean to imply you're not a regular on here, I just phrased it badly. Sorry.

Vivienne said...

Good evening everyone on this momentous day!

Our hopes and aspirations are with 'our' new President, who delivered an inspiring, uplifting and memorable inaugural speech, following his appointment into office today.

Today was also memorable Loz, as you delivered your 20th 'On Your Doorstep' - The Battle of Neville's Cross. Despite your limited time constraints, giggles and Ian's interjections, you managed to fit in all your tale. Well done! However, you did leave us with a bit of a mystery about the Cross. Was it there before, or as a result of, the battle? Very enjoyable, and looking forward to your next session on the newly named 'Early Breakfast.'

Lawrence said...

Hi everyone,

Glad you liked Doorstep 20, albeit manic. It's odd diving into a feature you know like the back of your hand, but have had to reduce the scripting, read (much smaller print than intended), keep tabs on Ian... and watch a live clock counting down to Mike Parr.... pressured but fun... my cheeks always ache after a doorstep session with Ian.

So Ian want's 21st Doorstep... not sure if it's for this Thursday or next Tuesday but I'll write it now and see.

Doing the live 30 is a great honour for me as having done the pre-recording gig, the lives give everything that edge of urgency and me.... unusually a very dry throat, I just wish I could do this forever more with Ian... a superb teacher in all things radio.... but things have decreed it's a no go as we all know.

Sid... ohhhh yes please if you don't mind I'd love any material you have.... I'm a natural archivist (horder to the rest of the family)and I would be so delighted to have such things for posterity.

Sadly a lot (almost all!) of the first 19 Doorsteps have gone unexpectedly from the system at the beeb, so if you have any of those I'd be happier than you'd believe.

As for the hatchback.... tried your technique and it still pops up when you open other doors etc.... much to Ian's glee as he found my car's independant persona very amusing when I gave him a lift from the station as his car is still off the road.

As for the Neville's Cross, from the way I read it, the cross was at that spot before the battle, most likely as a monument to Sir Ralph Neville??? maybe??? which became a memorial afterwards.

Wonder how much the Scots failed to pay for the return of King David?

The next mini I'm planning is a real surprising one to me .... I'll say no more other than .... set your T.A.R.D.I.S to the middle 1600s.

Cheers gang and forgive Ian for not blogging for now.... his mind is really chocka block for now but is aware of what's what.... stay tuned he'll be online again.

Morning everyone,
The recording of Ians show on Tuesday morning took a bit of a blow. I set the whole thing away before going to bed on Monday night but failed to notice the settings on the machine were not as they should be. As a result of this when I tried to edit it at 11:30 last night all I had was a period of silence. I couldn't believe it. I tried everything I could but it didn't make any difference. So we shall be one 30 minute show short of the full compliment.
Loz, I only have the full Birthday show and the Peoples Nightshift from December 3rd. I will copy them for you later, and send them off altogether, when the time is right.
