PEOPLE'S NIGHTSHIFT 6
Just a quick blog (as it were) to remind everyone that I'm now cobbling together the sixth People's Nightshift, to be broadcast on Wednesday 3 December. Get your contributions in to me at the BBC as soon as you can. All the usual - plus the more UNusual - categories are welcome.....stories, anecdotes, memories, tall tales, jokes, quizzes, questions (and answers), trivia, lists, record requests, comments, newspaper clippings.....it's all grist to The Nightshift mill.

AND...
..isn't it good to know that Ryan is still listening in Alton (Hampshire) after all this time?

AND...
..these lorry pictures are cool, aren't they? Unfortunately, I can't remember who sent them to me. Typical.

Hi Ian,
Like the new format, much easier to read. The photos were contributed by Bob Williams (April 8th) Yes, it's lovely to hear that Ryan is still 'with us' I heard Paddy mention Rev Eddie had a birthday yesterday too. Wouldn't it be nice to see them on the blog?

Hello everyone,
How on earth did you remember that Maureen, quite amazing. My wife Jean is always quoting dates and places to me, I just nod my head and say "yes pet".
I wonder if elf 'n' safety would class those vehicles as a distraction. They certainly catch my eye.

Sorry Sid, no magic, just scrolled back to when Ian first started posting them. I remember getting them about the same time. I'll wait and see if he has the full set! I know what you mean about womens' memories tho' I get 'accused' of the same thing!

Hi Maureen,

It's great hearing from you again. I hope you are keeping well and your computer too!

Ian, I love the picture on post 109, it's facinating.

Thanks Vivienne, I think you would call them 'technical issues!' I'm hoping that normal service is resumed now. I've made up with a 'shed-load' of contributions to Ian for next week!

Hello Everyone, it's wonderful that this includes you once again, Maureen!

LOZ, do accordions need tuning :-)?
This young man, Leonard Brown, just blows me away!

SID, I agree that one might just run off the road confronted with one of these rolling works of trompe d'oeuil!

Hi Inga,

I've answered the accordion question on posting 109.

Cheers.

Hi All,
Thanks for the 'welcome backs' I was missing you! Did you know that Ian is off on Monday so his next live show is Tuesday? If you've got 'stuff' to send in he'll only have Tuesday to look at it. I asked Ian if he'd thought of making Thursday a 60's Disco. We could request some brilliant songs and bring those memories rushing back. What do you think? Let's party!

Hi Folks!

Good idea Maureen, and thanks for reminding me that Ian is off on Monday.

Hello Everybody - As some of you know by now, Wendell's last name is Eubanks. He is very interested in his ancestry and he has managed to trace his maternal line back to Switzerland [Heldermann] but his paternal side comes to a halt in 1800 in South Carolina. Tonight he asked me if it would be any trouble for me to ask if any of you know someone with the last name of Eubanks. So may I ask: do you?

Mornin' all, may I wish everyone a Happy Advent Sunday, without going over the top I'd like to remind everyone of the 'reason for the season' The countdown starts now!

Inga, I don't know if it's any help to you but have you visited the 1901 census online? To quote them you can "search over 400 million people living in England and Wales between 1841-1901 and view images of the original documents" It's one of those sites that you can spend hours on. Hope it's some help..

Yesterday I requested a mention from Sue Sweeney for Ian and Jonathan Miles (another Radio Newcastle presenter, Inga) who are both having birthdays this week. Jonathan is 47 on Wednesday. Sue has sent me a nice email saying that she'll do it on tonights' show. If anyone hears it will they let me know please as I mightn't hear it all. Thanks. (Still doing the PR job Ian!)
Sue is on from 10pm our time until Ians' show at 1am.

Hullo! What a lovely surprise! Is that really Maureen there? I'm that glad you're back ... I've really missed you ...
come here while I give you a nice 'Nightshift' hug!
I think Ian might have gone to Edinburgh this weekend, did I just dream that up or did he mention something about it on one of the programmes?
I really enjoy being in school this time of year, Maureen - on Friday I was helping the Infant children to practise their Nativity Play and they were learning the words to some Christmas Carols.... they were adorable.
Inga, you will have heard of a World Championship Boxer named Chris Eubank - apparently his name at birth was Eubanks but, at some point, he dropped the 's'. I'm afraid he is the only person of that name I've heard of. Ian's the best one to ask, he's good with names.

Afternoon folks, it's fresh out there this morning...almost deep and crisp and even. Maureen I'm with you and the Advent celebrations. Shame on those councils who have 'Winter Lights'.
So when do we put our trees up? In our case it's about 10 days before Christmas day, but our Gillian is looking for the tree and decorations already. I think the metro centre has something to do with that.
Hildie.....you little tinker.

Hi Everyone,

Inga, like Hildie I've only heard of Chris Eubank, but I've forwarded some info I found on publicprofiler/worldnames site.

I was driving by Raby Castle yesterday, and there must have been over a hundred deer in the grounds in front of the castle. Of course I stopped to take some photos, but was wishing I'd arrived while the frost was still on the grass. It would have made a lovely Christmas Card scene.
