Your mention of it reminded me that, when I was doing German to 'O' level, we were told that Ulm was the subject of a German tongue-twister: In Ulm, um Ulm und um Ulm herum. Just thought I'd share that with you...Ian Robinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06398143513915223362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686549576418787314.post-34609434287815624252009-05-25T22:25:47.121+01:002009-05-25T22:25:47.121+01:00M'lud, for the benefit of the jury, what Maureen a...M'lud, for the benefit of the jury, what Maureen actually said was " Stoppit Sid!".Sidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09274128902753553953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686549576418787314.post-2645896679147175782009-05-24T19:50:34.519+01:002009-05-24T19:50:34.519+01:00Thanks for letting us know about your meeting Hild...Thanks for letting us know about your meeting Hildie, sounds like you had a lovely time. I was sitting outside with it - mind you, I could hardly see the screen for the sun! Anyway, I am sure you will hear more from Ian about today's AGM. He was on top form today .... and looking very bronzed!Hildiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08859247954480595473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686549576418787314.post-90830352264661516682009-05-24T15:31:30.695+01:002009-05-24T15:31:30.695+01:00Hello
just back from a jolly jaunt to Tanfield wit...Hello<br />just back from a jolly jaunt to Tanfield with Ian , Vivienne and Margaret (i.e. not mim) (not this time) ..... We met Neville .... who gave us free rail tickets and we rode the 11 o'clock train to East Tanfield, via Sunniside I think, in the glorious sunshine. We waved at a man in a field with a camera on a tripod, and we waved at Neville in the signal box as we passed, we saw a red kite circling above us and a man on the train recognised Ian's voice. He said, "You're whats-his- name, Ian Robinson, aren't you?"<br />Ian said, "How do you know?"<br />The man said, "I listen to the radio"...... and then Ian said, "Oh, I thought you might have been a blast from my past!" <br />After disembarking from the train, we had coffee at the picnic tables near the shop and had another brief encounter there with Neville who was grabbing a quick cuppa. <br />Thank you, Margaret, for my lift home - she was going my way so I was once again lucky enough to not have to find a bus stop.Hildiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08859247954480595473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686549576418787314.post-55995612677661118562009-05-24T07:44:44.723+01:002009-05-24T07:44:44.723+01:00Hi Ian and all,

We also went to the Laing, which has nice tearooms too?<br />Did anyone see the item on telly about the man who is keeping bees on Fenwick's roof? Apparently, they are black and white bees and the honey is being sold downstairs, how's that for cutting down on airmiles?Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12970514527569249776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7686549576418787314.post-34711272173505260892009-05-23T14:43:17.158+01:002009-05-23T14:43:17.158+01:00Nice one Marion. I like the little titbits too that you used to pass on through the newsreel, we'll have to start passing them on to you again. I've got out of the habit.<br />Guess where I was today? We decided to visit the Tyneside Cinema and did the guided tour which was very interesting. I don't think that I've ever been in there before. I seem to remember being taken to The Tatler, up by the Haymarket when we were kids. I think there was a cartoon show on Saturday morning. One thing I learnt was that there used to be a monastery on that site and that's why the streets are named Pilgrim St and High Friars. Hildie, you'll be pleased to know that we got through the lunch without incident!<br />We also popped into the Cathedral for a look around, it's years since I've been there and I'd forgotten about the beautiful stained glass windows there. So that's another one ticked off my list!Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12970514527569249776noreply@blogger.com
